Abbreviations - If you"re audited, don"t count on a chiropractor reviewing your records who"ll know what "PRL" or "ASRA" or even "Sublux" means. For that matter, even a non-chiropractor may have issue with non specific abbreviations like "PT." Did you send the patient for part-time or Physical Therapy work? The auditor isn"t going to try to interpret your abbreviations, particularly if a key is not present that clarifies their patient. A great SOAP note with one unidentifiable abbreviation can cause you to fail your audit. Therefore, make sure you are spelling it out definitely (another edge to EMR, push the button and the word comes out!) or that you supply a key that clearly interprets all your abbreviations.
I have seen it over the years of my practice that kids have a greater sense of well being and who receive regular chiropractic care have fewer illnesses. What this means is a joyful child who has a serene demeanor and sleeps well. These are children who do well in school and learn fast. A number of the harsh drugs for example antibiotics and Ritalin are never needed. Nor are invasive operations like having tonsils removed or adding ear tubes.
JJ: I yearn to play Adam in Neil LaBute"s The Shape of Things. The range of emotions exhibited by this poor guy is immeasurable.
